Exhibition: The Lonely Glove Project
November 9 - December 28FREE
The Lonely Glove Project – photo exhibition by Samantha Pottmaier will be presented in Unicorn.Berlin Mitte from November, 9, till the end of 2017.
“The idea for this project came to me in my first winter in Berlin – two years ago. I realised that when the cold comes, people frequently lose one of their closest warm-companions: their gloves.
As gloves always come in pairs, to see those lost and lonely gloves all around the cold streets reminded me of my own feelings of loneliness in the winter time. So I planned a photographic project starting in the next year’s winter in which I would take pictures from the found gloves, exactly on the place and condition they were standing, and collect them for a future exhibition.
Rescuing the gloves from the cold streets where they were lost and alone, and bringing them to a warm place where they can be with their pairs is my way to translate my own remedy to loneliness; which is to reach the warm place and the sense of companionship being among my dear ones.
The exhibition is now taking place in my third winter here, and it still resonates with my own emotions about the hard winters in the city.”
